Plankton is a collective name for small marine and freshwater organisms which act as an important part of the ecosystem.
Skin Chemistry uses a biotechnological extract of plankton derived from E. crustaceum harvested from Playa Paraiso in Tenerife, Spain. This plankton helps to decrease vascular permeability, reducing puffiness and dark circles. It discourages exudation further reducing puffiness. The plankton includes enzymes that digest bilirubin in the skin further reducing skin discoloration. Plankton also works to increase elastin and collagen in the skin to maintain strength and elasticity.
Retention of water can cause puffiness in the under-eye area and is increased with lack of sleep, allergies, smoking and heredity. The thinning of skin as we age can contribute to an increase of dark circles under the eyes. Eye strain, sun exposure, dehydration and allergies are also common contributors to the appearance of dark circles.
